Thank You, Houston County!

We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support of our community in renewing the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST). With a 77% passage rate, our families and neighbors have once again shown their strong belief in public education and in the future of our students.

This level of support speaks volumes about the trust our community places in our school district—and that trust is earned through the incredible work our teachers, staff, and leaders do every day. Thank you for pouring your heart into serving our students and families. Your dedication is the reason our community sees the value of our schools and chooses to invest in them.

Passing the E-SPLOST was truly a team effort, and we are thankful for every person who helped make this possible. Together, we will continue to build opportunities, strengthen our schools, and support the success of every child in Houston County.

Thank you, again, for your unwavering support.

E-SPLOST is not just a school initiative. It’s a community investment!

What is E-SPLOST and why is it important to Houston County?

An Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) is a one-cent sales tax that lasts a maximum of five years or until the established cap is reached. Legislation enacted in 1985 allows school districts the option to ask voters for the ability to levy and collect a one percent sales tax to help fund school improvements. It can be used to pay for capital projects or to retire debt, but cannot be used to pay government operating expenses, such as salaries.

Houston County voters will be asked to vote on a continuation of the  one-cent sales tax for education on November 4, 2025. Early voting will  be offered October 14-October 31, 2025.  A continuation of the E-SPLOST will provide funds to improve safety  and security, facilities, technology and transportation. Overall the  funds would be used to create safer and better learning environments.

The current E-SPLOST ends March 31, 2027. This referendum asks to continue the one-cent  E-SPLOST for five years, from April 1, 2027, to March 31, 2032, or until a cap of $275 million is reached, whichever comes first.

A continuation of the E-SPLOST will provide funds to improve safety and security, facilities, technology, and transportation. Overall the funds would be used to create safer and better learning environments.
